The United States Embassy in Kosovo has welcomed the Government of Kosovo's decision to lift the ban on ready-to-do goods imported from Serbia.
In a response to KALLXO.com, this embassy has said that Kosovo's rightful place is in European and Euro-Atlantic institutions.
“The prospect of stopping for ready goods imported from Serbia is a step in the right direction towards greater regional economic integration, as well as European integration”- reported in the American Embassy's response.
This embassy says it appreciates the efforts and long-term commitment of international partners to promote free trade and regional integration in the Western Balkans.
The US government supports initiatives that facilitate free circulation of goods, services and people, and improve rule of the law, including the Berlin and CEFTA process” -- is said by the American Embassy.
The US government, according to this embassy, wants to see increased economic prosperity in Kosovo.
“Reducing barriers in trade improves prospects for economic growth”- says the embassy.
Meanwhile, Interior Affairs Minister Xhelal Svecla has said during the day that other border points with Serbia, after opening in Merdara, will be opened for all goods when X-ray scanners become operational in them.
Following the unlocking of goods at the Merdare border point by the Government of Kosovo, Germany has again placed high-tech scanners for border control of goods with Serbia, and according to warnings are expected to come to Kosovo “as possible”.
