Another case of attack by wandering dogs has occurred within KKUK's space marking the rise of these cases. The municipality had declared a month earlier that resolving this problem was a matter of days, while on Friday, the Public Services Directorate says this task taken over will take time until March of next year. The municipality has demanded higher central-level involvement.
I believe in a week, we'll clean it up completely from the dog”.
That was Public Services Director Bekim Brestovci's statement early last month, in case of the attack by stray dogs on two people.
But a month later, within the same areas where the attitude of wandering dogs continues has been attacked by a woman.
As she continues her treatment at the Infectious Clinic, her condition remains stable.
But the citizens' concern continues to be present.
Citizens have declared behind the cameras that they were present when dogs were left by citizens with cars. They say they feel threatened by wanderers whose numbers are growing every day.
From the municipality, they say they've been told this by the QKUK management until they say that their capture actions were launched at four o'clock today.
We don't have direct responsibility for KKUK's space, but we have offered co-operation because we have seen how disturbing the situation is... we've decided that, from today, we have to make the capture of stray dogs inside the QKUK. According to the CKUK prognosis, there are about 60-100 dogs. Today we started with interventions from the early hours of the morning because the interventions take place by 4 in the morning. Twelve of them were”, Brestovci said.
From “within the week”, Brestovci has now declared that their departure will take time until next year.
By the end of March next year, we will have at least 1300-1500 dogs removed. I think this number is bigger, but once they leave, we have another situation. We'll have more security and better image for the capital, but of course, even the dogs that are being sent to the shelter will be able to spend their lives in a much more human form”, Brestovci added.
The number of captured dogs Brestovci argues with limited action time as he points out that this one will continue until the last dog leaves the KKUK space.
The day-to-day event has also been praised by the Mayor, Progress Rama, who has called for higher involvement from the central level in resolving the issue.
This year, according to a SHKKUK response, 112 cases of attack by wanderers are recorded from January 1st to now, while 84 last year. /Tv Dukagini/
