The economic situation in Kosovo and the situation of ethnic minorities were some of the topics the prime minister spoke about.
Speaking to the Serb community, he said this community, which makes up only 4 %s of the government's population of more than 150,0004 municipalities.
In general, he said Kosovo has powerful protection of minorities.
Kosovo has strong protection of minorities, including guaranteed parliamentary seats. Non-US communities have the right to veto vital laws and constitutional amendments and enjoy quotas for all high state appointments and other positions in the public sector, including police. The Serbian Minority, which makes up about 4% of the population, governs over a quarter of municipalities and holds approximately 9% of the countries in Parliament, which are guaranteed. We are committed to zealous governance that promotes more equal growth and strong protection of our Constitution”, the Prime Minister has declared.
Speaking of Association, Kurti said the association Serbia is seeking would undermine the Constitution. The same is true of specific guarantees for Orthodox churches and monasteries.
“We also engage to hear the demands of all minority communities in our country and weigh the political requirements based on their influence on ordinary people and ultimately on the legal basis that protects them. Such a requirement is for the Association of Serb majority municipalities. The association Serbia is looking for, without initially recognising Kosovo, would seek to take executive power, both from the Government and the municipalities, which would undermine our constitution. The same is true of specific guarantees for Orthodox churches and monasteries that enjoy special protection zones from tens of to thousands of acres. This requirement would require government from a layer that is not legally regulated to offer the wide range of protections that the current order offers. This is an occasion when demand for more is actually a less”, Kurti stated.
A week ago, I had the opportunity to address the Harvard community at an event organised by the Harvard Albanian Students Association. I appreciated the chance to avoid Kosovo's strong economic growth within 6.2% of the past three years and how this relationship has been... Pic.twitter. com/ WozYRRP4Sa
