The construction, trade and production sectors in Germany employ most of the Kosovars living there. Over the years, however, the number of workers in various sectors, such as health, education, and communication, has also increased.
According to data presented by the GAP Institute, it turns out the largest number of Kosovars working in Germany are engaged in the construction, trade and production sector.

In 2023, Germany's average salary for Kosovars was 2,822 euros, much higher compared to the average salary of 468 euros in Kosovo.
The construction sector leads with 32,238 Kosovars employed, while those working in trade and production track 17,774 and 17,702 workers respectively.
In addition to these sectors, a considerable number are also engaged in hotels and gastronomial (12,434 workers), as well as in other areas.

As far as wages are concerned, Germany's information and communication sector offers the highest salary for Kosovars, about 3,762 euros, compared to only 930 euros in Kosovo. Meanwhile, the gastronomial sector offers the lowest salary in Germany, at 1,867 euros, but still much higher than the average salary for this sector in Kosovo, which is 348 euros.
This report highlights the huge economic gap between wages in Germany and Kosovo, with a steady increase in the migration of the Kosovo workforce towards the German market, especially in the construction and services sectors. /REL
