Six-year-old Erblin Josha from Kosovo, who suffered from kidney failure after a utero infection and could not be treated in the country, regained health in Türkiye with her father's kidney, Anadolu reports.

Six-year-old Erblin, one of two Josha family children living in Kosovo, six months ago went to the hospital with complaints of vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhea following a intestine infection. The young girl, who could not eat, could not run or speak, had kidney failure and then failed heart failure because medication did not function.

The baby, who in her country suffered multiple organ insultation, linked to the respiratory and had a heart attack, was flown to Istanbul after the intervention.

Erblin, who was diagnosed with hemomatic uremic syndrome (HUS) in Istanbul and whose only solution was kidney transplantation, following the successful process of treating the Transplant Center of Organs at University Hospital Bironi Assoc. Dr. Halil Erbiş and Intensiv Pediatric Assoc care specialist. Dr. Ayhan Yaman and his team, she got ready for transplant and then she regained her health with the kidney she received from her father.

Waiting for the release from the hospital of her daughter, Nazimije Josha for Anadolu, said treatment for the little girl did not work and that doctors in Kosovo said: “there is nothing we can do here, there is no chance of surviving”.

If we hadn't come here, my child wouldn't have healed”

The baby's mother, Nazmije Josha, said that many hospitals did not accept her daughter. A stranger suggested this country. If we hadn't come here, my kid wouldn't have healed in any way. She remained in intensive therapy for about two months. They took good care of him. She was released from her equipment and started breathing. They said there was a need for dyalisis and that it would continue so far to transplant”, she said.

Furthermore, Nazmije Josha stressed that her daughter was well prepared by doctors for the transplant process and said that “before she got sick, Erbline was a very hyperactive child, ran and moved. She had flu like other children, but she never did. After ovum infection began, Erbline began not eating, running, losing weight, and not speaking. She couldn't express her complaints”.

She says that she was very sad about the transplant for her daughter, who weighed 18 pounds [18 kg] but was swollen by ememae after she became sick. I took my child to the hospital, but I pulled him out completely unconscious. I had no hope when I brought him here, but I still kept that hope. I'm very happy now”, she said.

Sami Josha's father shared the joy he felt when he learned that his kidney was appropriate with his daughter:

I immediately agreed to become a donor without hesitation. I was ready to give my baby a kidney if it was appropriate. The tests were done, and I was told that there was no problem in donating my kidney. They said that my child would be cured, and I immediately accepted. When I saw my child improve, I said: Good thing I gave him my kidney, nice to give him a second life. I went into surgery smiling and went out smiling. I didn't feel any pain because I was very happy”

She was saved from transplant surgery at our “hospital.

Asoc. Dr. Ayhan Yaman explains that the little girl was taken to the hospital unconscious, tied to a respiratory, puffed up all over her body and couldn't urinate a point.

Saying they immediately took the child to the dialise, Yaman said: “We monitored the patient for about 2 months. Many of its problems were solved, it was separated from the machine, but kidney failure was accompanied by heart failure because of the disease. The only solution for this was the transplant, and by doing transplants in our hospital, she survived the dilemma. The patient's condition is now very good, we plan to release it immediately”.

Yaman says the infection of the baby's intestines deteriorated after 10 days and that many European countries where they applied rejected the child because her condition was severe.

We accepted the patient and were able to get him here from a very difficult point. The disease we call HUS after diarrhea is a condition that we often see and is seen in our country. When effective diagnosis and exchange of plasma is performed in early stages, most patients can recover without transplantation, but some experience permanent kidney damage. The only way to survive this situation is kidney transplant”, he said.

Improving Erbina's state of health

Prof. Dr. Halil Erbiş, who has performed Erblin Josha's kidney transplant operation, said that surgery on children is difficult because their veins are smaller and smaller.

Whatever we got from her father is a very large organ, but the place where we were going to put her in Erbline's belly was a small area. So we removed Erblin's own kidney and replaced it. Normally, kidney transplants are placed in adult patients' hips without removing their kidneys. We placed it in the belly and bound it with the body's largest veins. You have to be very careful during the operation here because the smallest mistake could have another”, Erbiş stressed.

He noted that all difficult phases are performed with multidisciplinary work with his team.

Her food was very bad, she couldn't eat. With her kidney transplant, her heart soon recovered. His heart used to work 25 percent, but he has now grown to 35 percent. This will become normal over time. She's eating now and she's in a period of rapid recovery. The healing of pediatric patients occurs very quickly when we eliminate the problem. After a few months, Erblin will be able to run and play in Park”, Erbiş said. /AnadoluAgency/
