An Israeli attack on a refugee camp in northern Lebanon has left a Palestinian group declared terrorist organisation by the United States dead, and the European Union reported on October 5th.
This is the first time Israel has attacked this area since the start of the Gaza war on October 7, 2023.
Saeed Attallah Ali, his wife and their two daughters were killed “by the bombing of the Zionists [Israel] at their house at the Bevali” camp, near Tripoli, it was said in the statement.
Israel has repeatedly targeted Hamas members in Lebanon since the Gaza war started almost a year ago.
Since then, Hamas has said that at least 18 of his members have been killed in Lebanon.
Hamas said that in Monday's air strikes their leader in Lebanon, Fatah Sharif Abu al-Amine, was killed at his house in the Al-Bas camp south of Lebanon.
In August, during an Israeli air strike in Sidon, south of Lebanon, Hamas commander Samer al-Hij was killed. Meanwhile, in a January attack that American defence officials said was carried out by Israel, Hamas deputy chief Saleh al-Aruri was killed, and six other Palestinian radicals south of Beirut.
In Lebanon there are dozens of Palestinian refugee camps that were set up to house Palestinians who left during the 1948 war, about the time Israel was created. / REL/
