The European Union said on Wednesday that it had launched a “humanitarian air corridor” to send aid to Lebanon, as fighting escalates between Israel and Hezbollah, Iran-backed militant group, and political parties that control most south of Lebanon.
The European Commission said three initial flights are planned to transport aid from Italy and Dubai towards the conflict-torn country, with the first flight expected to arrive in Beirut on Friday.
“The EU stands next to people affected by the crisis in Lebanon”, Ursula von der Leyen wrote on the X president of the European Commission.

Hezbollah threw missiles at Israel on Wednesday and said it had prevented land invasions a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Lebanon could face destruction like Gaza, reports the REL.
Brussels said that, since last week, it was co-ordinating remittances to Lebanon from Belgium, France, Poland, Slovakia and Spain.
