Saliannji was sentenced to 1 year in prison for false tinging under the case known as the Serbian “”.
In his request, the DP deputy demands that the execution of the sentence be suspended until the outcome of the Supreme Court's review, arguing the process has been irregular and that the decision taken is controversial.
The request stresses that the suspension of the sentence is important for the preservation of the MP's mandate, which has been received by the people.

Salianj's lawyers claim the sentence is politically motivated and is not based on sufficient evidence, stressing that their client should not serve the sentence until the judicial procedure is completed in the highest instance.
Today's demand comes in a heated political climate, where many Democratic Party officials have voiced support for Salianj, naming his sentence a blow to free speech and an attempt to close the opposition language.
Regarding Salianj's sentence, the opposition is expected to start on 7 October from Tirana civil disobedience, which, according to DP officials, will extend throughout Albania.
