Kosovo's prime minister says it is worth risking in relation to the country's international allies and that he opposes some strategic actions, as he says, “without any valid principle”.
Albin Kurti in late September stayed in New York, U.S.A., for the high-level UN General Assembly week and in an interview at the Albanian-American Cultural Centre Struga, published on Saturday, was asked if it is dangerous “ ” courage “probably exaggerated” in front of internationals.
The principle in politics, especially when representing its high levels in the service of the people's interest, the will of its people, its rights, and its needs, in various times I can present different risks, but I believe that it is always worth it, since principle is right. That doesn't mean we don't have strategies, but we don't agree with strategic actions without any valid principle”, Kurti said.
He said Kosovo should take the “bar of responsibility” itself, and that this “is the most normal” thing.
With the United States of America, with the European Union, with NATO, with the democratic West in general, we fully share common values, but also similar interests and goals. But in our Republic of Kosovo, of course we are democratic governments of an independent state and we have to make decisions for ourselves, which we also consult with friends, partners and allies, but we must take the burden of responsibility ourselves. And this may seem a little bit strange to some people who compare us with previous governments, but this is the most normal thing for an independent democratic Republic like the work of our beloved Kosovo”, Kurti said.
The prime minister reiterated that the “United States of America are our biggest and irreplaceable partner, friend and ally”, while commenting on the American “ant” that has been placed on him by some.
“Do, by saying, opponents of the Vetevendosje Movement and the Government of Kosovo, failing to find rational arguments, make such irrational findings. And it's not about any anti-Americanism to anyone from our government cabinet or political movement, on the contrary, but those who make such accusations, perhaps more in this way express opposition despair than any valid criticism”, Kurti said.
