Former US Ambassador to the United Nations and former adviser to national security in the administration of former US President Donald Trump, John Bolton, has declared that America hopes that Kosovo and Serbia can jointly find an acceptable solution for both sides, including the exchange of territories, RTV reports.
This would contribute to Balkan stability, he praised in an interview for “Politika”, and adds that America in the Balkans could have done more.
The United States has withdrawn for several years and left the resolution of the disputes to Western Europe, so it can mediate and help the parties, and I think this has been a good thing,” he has declared.
However, Bolton thinks that, as he says, during the time in the administration of President Trump, the White House could have done even more because there is interest to stabilise the region that has been unstable in recent years and to end this conflict so that we can focus on the biggest problems that arise and the growth of new alliances between China and Russia, as well as the threats to Europe coming from the Middle East and East Asia. ”
“This is something that has been happening for a long time since the breakup of Yugoslavia,” stressed Bolton, voicing hope that a solution for which the parties may agree will soon be found.
In an interview ahead of the presidential elections to be held in the US on November 5th, Bolton estimates that the outcome of the vote in America could significantly change the course of conflict between Russia and Ukraine, given that presidential candidates support opposing parties.
“Sic said, Harris' (Kamala's) policy towards Ukraine, as well as many other national security issues, will be to a large extent the same size as that of Biden. But I think Trump increasingly stresses that he does not see Ukraine as the winner, has no sympathy for Ukraine, but has more sympathy for the Russian position. In his presidential nomination, he has proposed an agreement on resolving the conflict, which in many respects resembles the agreement Moscow would like to see,” he stressed.
According to Bolton, this will be the closest presidential race in modern US history, and there is currently no way to predict who will win, although only a few weeks remain until the elections.
“Taking into account the US electoral system, the beneficiary will be decided only by several states that have the majority election votes. In general, seven countries are spoken of, and in these countries, competition is very close. We have less than a few weeks left, so it is difficult to say what events can form electoral changes and in what directions, but the race will certainly be unclear until the end,” concluded Bolton.
