Begaj from Tivat: We will never agree with actions that clash with Kosovo

Republika President Bajram Begaj, at the joint meeting with the Albanians of Montenegro, stressed the importance of strengthening the link between Albanians on all trains.

“On major national issues, President Begaj stressed, we as Albanians should be together despite political and party ideology that makes us compete with each other, which is good to be healthy. We should be together on issues dealing with the Albanian Euro-Atlantic orientation. This is a dream and analysation of Albanians, for which it is not negotiated”, the president of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj, stressed.

“We cannot put fences along”, the head of State said, which supported initiatives undertaken to remove barriers at the region's borders.
The head of state commended representatives of Montenegro's Albanians for what they have done and do in the interest of Albanians and advised them that it is important not to tolerate anti-Albanian actions: “If we see an attitude that conflicts with the interests of Albanians, which conflicts with the dreams of Albanians, with our European roads, with our being in NATO, of course these things are not tolerated, they are a red line. Individual thoughts we cannot challenge. We oppose actions. We will never agree with actions that clash with Kosovo, clash with recognition, clash with Kosovo's vote in international institutions”.

The president of the Republic of Albania said more must be done in increasing representation of Albanians in administration, and not only.

He also said that the assimilation of Albanians is a very disturbing phenomenon, for the prevention of a long-term strategy that will have to focus on preserving national identity through Albanian education, language and culture.

The president of the Republic praised the adoption of the text of the joint abbet in Montenegrin schools, where instruction is done in Albanian. From now on, in Albanian schools, students will learn Albanian with the same book as their peers in Kosovo and Albania.

Stressing the importance of this achievement, the head of State said: “Abetar is what teaches us language and language is the root of the nation. No tongue, no nation”.

During their conversation with the president, representatives of Albanian political parties in Montenegro identified their contribution to the country's economic, cultural and political development and expressed hope for expectations in strengthening their position in the future. They also assured that, with their contribution to political and economic life in Montenegro, they will continue to be important factors for deepening co-operation between Albania and Montenegro. President Begaj assured them that he will personally support any initiative that serves to strengthen the Albanian factor in the region and beyond.
