New American Emissary: Uncoordinated actions of the Government of Kosovo complicate US capacities for support

The new American emissary for the Western Balkans, Alexander Kasanoff, has said that the co-ordinated actions of the Government of Kosovo have complicated the capacities of the United States of America to support Kosovo.

By “REL”, He made these statements during his meeting with several journalists in Kosovo, at the end of his first official visit to the country.

In my meetings with the president and prime minister, I reiterated our desire for a more effective partnership.

“also, I have expressed satisfaction with the resumption of the flow of goods [from Serbia to Kosovo] and that Kosovo has managed to take its place in CEFTA and the Berlin Process” He was quoted as saying.

Kasanoff added:

“We also continue to support Kosovo's Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as integration into European structures, especially when we see so many changes in Europe. We think this continues to be the right place for Kosovo. This is something we want to advance and we want to work with Kosovo”.

Among other things, the new US emissary has stressed that they expect Kosovo and Serbia to meet the commitments they have made from the dialogue on normalising relations, including the agreements reached.

He was quoted as saying that this included sending the draft state to the majority Serb municipalities in Kosovo for assessment at the Constitutional Court.

During this meeting, he has also been asked about the possibility that elections in the United States will affect any way in access to the Western Balkans:

The US foreign policy “is based on our national interests, and it is unlikely that our national interests will change to a degree that would impact accounting or politics dramatically when it comes to Kosovo”.

He has stressed that the first year in Kosovo was <x0) i n “to learn more about” issues.
