“18 thousand businesses have been closed for four years”

As the chairman of this alliance, Agim Sahin, said, this is the real number of closed businesses, although officially there are only 673 Sosh.

He has said that due to heavy closing procedures, businesses that have eliminated their activity, figure they are open to inaccurate statistics, according to him.

Therefore, Sahin has demanded that the Government facilitate these procedures so that the data can be accurate.

“The GDP will publish a research study conducted in September, which includes the past four years -- from January 1st, 2020 to January 1st, 2024. This study concerns the trend of entrepreneurship and employment in Kosovo”.

It turns out we've officially closed about 633 businesses officially in the past four years. These businesses have operated over the years and are supposed to have had three employees, which in total turns out that there are about 20 thousand workers left”.

There are also many businesses that have eliminated their activity, but have not declared closure due to procedures, about 4,500 businesses on an annual level, or for four years, about 18 thousand businesses. We are concerned that business closure procedures are busy and the state should do its best to facilitate these procedures so that we can have precise statistics”.

While speaking of new businesses, Sahin said that, according to the study, over the past four years, 42 957 businesses of different sectors in Kosovo have opened.

If we talk about open businesses, in Kosovo over the past four years, 42 957 businesses of different sectors have opened. These businesses are supposed to have employed 55444 workers”.
