Domestic violence has reached disturbing proportions. According to the Kosovo Police in the first 10 months of 2023, over 2,000 cases of domestic violence have been recorded, with over 1700 of them women. As field connoisseurs say, recent killings in Kosovo should be an alarm for raising awareness in the new generations.

Family violence, a recent high - scale phenomenon in the country and beyond, does not rarely end with fatality. The Kosovo police, within this year, have recorded over 1700 cases of violence against women in the family, four of which have been killed.

During January-October 2023, 2186 cases of domestic violence have been recorded. Victims of these cases were 1763 female and 497 males. There have been four cases of serious <x0) suicides, in these four cases there are 5 victims (one case with two victims), 2 men and 4 women”, police have said of RTV21.

Recent Murders in Kosovo, According to Organisation Director U n N WOMEN, Vlora Tuzi-Nushi, should be an alarm for society to work more with younger generations, in empowering girls and women, as should educate boys not to be violent.

The risks are obvious, just this inequality and patriarchal mentality, the right that a husband considers to be having on his wife or a young man over the girl they are with, should be removed... The gender Steripes should be removed, we should start to think that even in the family, the right to education, the right to employment, everyone has equal property, right also because we're seeing that the absence of having the lowest number of girls who have property in their own name is actually exposing them and forcing them to stay with the bully because they have nowhere to go, and days that the shelter is also the temporary attitude”, Tuzi-ushi said.

The challenge for victims of domestic violence is also the report of police violence. According to Besarta Breznica from the Kosovo Women's Network, there are many reasons why they make victims insecure to report the violence they have experienced.
