End of term: Nagavci plans to start 19 nests

In the last year of the government's mandate, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is planning to lay the foundations for about 20 nests in the country. Procedures are set to begin from March onward. In total, their construction is meant to cost over 14m euros. Before he came to power, the Vetevendosje Movement had promised construction [...]
The evidence that it has led with the Ministry of Education, Arberie Nagavci, has decided to quit at the end of the mandate, as elections approach. That's what he's planning to do with putting some cornerstones on for some nursery.
This month alone, on the official public procurement site, the Ministry of Education has published about 19 preliminary announcements of nesting in the country. Three of them will be built in Gjilan, the municipality that is led by Vetevendosje.
These reports indicate that the nests will be built in Bardosh Pristina, Peja, Bresalz of Gjilan, Spahered Pollac, Malisheva Bellanica, Zour of Prizren, Brodsane of Dragasi, Petrova Shpe, Rogana of Kamenica, Pristina, Rece-Vate of Kacanik, Gurakoc of Istogu, Lipjan Magure, Vushtrri, Kli, Kosovo Fushe, Lubash of Prizren (and the White Gulf) and the Gnjiman <kat>, and the GhapthI also in Garith, Gjipitth).
Most of the money is to cost the construction of the nest in Lubizhda, Prizren. One million euros are earmarked for the nursery. The projected amount for others is 650 thousand to 850 grand for a nest. In total, building these nests is projected to cost August 14m euros.
Based on preliminary reports published on e-procurement, procedures for these nests are scheduled to begin from March onward.
For nest work, there has been constant criticism of Kurti Government for failing to fulfill its promise. Before he came to power, the Vetevendosje Movement had promised to build 160 nests. To fulfill that promise, VVA is about 100 nests away.
We're going to make sure that children get enough nesting places and 160 nests all over the place and free shots for all students from first to fifth grade. This combined with quality education, scholarship and curriculum that are in step with the demands of the economy will transform our education system”, is the promise that it still figures on the official page of Vetevendosje Movement.
The Express newspaper has asked the Ministry of Education how many of these nests have ended up being built so far, but until the time of the publication of text has been answered.
But a balance on the issue had made Prime Minister Albin Kurti at the meeting of the Vetevendosje Movement General Council on December 16, 2023.
Kurt there had suggested that there are only four nests complete.
From 2003 until the end of 2020 - 17 years - a total of four children's nests have been built. Four nests have been built in Kosovo for 17 years, in the period 2003-2020. From our 2021 mandate to the present day, the nesting facility is as follows: -4 finished nests, -26 in the process of work, -3 school adaptations in the labor-processing nursery, and -8 nests in the process of tendering”, Kurti had declared.
He had described this as a success until he had attacked past governments.
So it turns out that 850% more nurserys are in the process of building or being built in 2021-2023 than in 2003-2020. Do you now know what the criticism is? They cannot speak for themselves, so they also slander us”, Kurt said at that meeting.
There are new nests, there's a salary increase in education, there's no reform that three years, no health insurance, no fiscal policy changes, until at the expense of price hikes, citizens pay twice as much taxes, get up and deliver contributions from 100 euros, because that's the easiest job, because that's the only thing they can do.
Failure to fulfill the promise of nesting has been mentioned several times in Kurti Government. The most vocal in this direction were LDK deputies, Avdullah Hoti and Hykmete Bajrami, who earlier led the education ministry.
“3 years of mandate and 3 annual budgets managed. 8.63 billion euros worth of three budgets (2021=2.51 billion, 2022=2.90 billion, 2023=3.22 billion). No sign of where all these tools have been spent. There is no new highway, new bridge, new tunnel, nest, schools or new hospitals. Salaries aren't up. Even the police did not receive the risk extensions from February of this year”, Hoti wrote in October last year.
Meanwhile, Bajrami had reminded Kurt of his promise of 160 nests./Express/
