EU Ambassador to Kosovo Thomas Szunyog has expressed satisfaction that Kosovo Serbs are exploiting their democratic right acquired from Kosovo's legal framework in connection with the collection of the signatures needed for petitioning for the withdrawal of mayors in northern Mitrovica and in Leposaviq.
Through an X post, he has called on the government and local authorities “to provide all necessary documentation and allow citizens' groups to initiate signing collections in Zubin Potok and Zvecan”.
“The crucial reasons are to keep the early local elections in northern Kosovo with the unconditional participation of Kosovo Serbs”, the EU ambassador stressed.
These days, in Mitrovica in the north and in Leposaviq, the collection of signatures needed for the dismissal of Albanian mayors of these two municipalities has started.
