In a proposal for Gazeta Express, Uglan said he would not accept signatures if they gathered on the street.
I haven't been notified yet. They're bound by administrative direction to introduce the municipal assembly to the exploitation of public space, they're not. If they are gathered on the streets, I don't accept”, he said.
The question of elections in the north became current after the resignation of then chairmen in November 2022, who were not satisfied with the Kosovo Government's decision on license plates.
The elections were then scheduled for December 18th, but due to the international community's insistence, they were postponed for April 23rd. On April 23rd, there were low citizens' appearances at the polls, and according to winning results, Albanian candidates emerged.
After many tensions in the north, the internationals recommended the resignation of Albanian chairmans, but state leaders in Kosovo supported the petition option, for which administrative instruction was drafted.
This directive envisions the mayors being dismissed after the start of a petition by citizens. The procedures have already been under way and the 30-day deadline for signing collection has begun. However, administrative instruction envisions the possibility of 15 days of additional deadlines being required.
