Customs authorities in Serbia said a car with RKS license plates has been discovered and prevented smuggling an arsenal, which they think was hidden in a passenger car.
According to one announcement, the car in which the weapons were hidden was controlled by Serbian customs officers at the Merdara border crossing, connecting Kosovo and Serbia.
According to Serbian customs, with Kosovo's Audi A8 license plates, two passengers were travelling from Kosovo's capital, Pristina.
“Although both claimed they had nothing to declare except personal items, customs officers decided to do a detailed check. A true arsenal of weapons was later discovered under the chairs and under the covers of wheels: 45 firearms, 31 silencers for firearms and 367 bullets”, the Customs of Serbia announced.
Serbian authorities said customs officers have handed over to police the two persons found in this “vehicle and have announced the competent prosecutor for further action”.
Otherwise, Kosovo's order authorities often report that they are smuggling weapons and other goods in border areas with Serbia, mainly in northern Kosovo, the Serb-run populated area. / REL
