During Tuesday, January 16th, the United Trade Union of Education, Science and Culture (SBASHK) has received a number of complaints from its branches in Kosovo municipalities, as well as pensioners, former educators during the years, that in January, pensions dedicated to this category have been down by about 25 percent compared to the past months.
Such a complaint has been expressed by Brahim Peli from Novosella, the municipality of Peja, who enjoys the legal right to the teacher's pension during the 1990s.
He has said that in past months he has received the pension worth 102 euros, meanwhile in January of this year's pension value has been 77 euros.
This month, I saw it was 25 euros less. I went to the social entity and was told that they have no confirmation (about lowering pension value) and that several others have complained”, Peli said.
According to him, former colleagues have had a similar problem, and some of them have been addressed to education unionists in Pec.
All those retired who are enjoying this addition (the teaching session of the 1990s) have come and complained to me. But we don't have the strength to change this”, said Isuf Lajci, the SBASK representative in Pec.
From the SBASK headquarters in Pristina, they have said the complaint has occurred in all pensioners' municipalities that former teachers of the years, who were given lower pensions by 25 percent.
The Law on the status of Albanian-language education workers, during the 1990s to 1999, which entered into force in 2019, stipulates recognition of the work experience and the right to compensation, of all educational workers who have worked over those years, according to the Albanian-language educational system, which was then parallel to the Serbian regime's educational system.
