Today, on 16 January, it is six years from the murder of Kosovo Serb politician Oliver Ivanovic, who had founded and headed the Civic Initiative of Freedom, Democracy, Justice (SDP), which was the main subject of the Serb opposition in Northern Mitrovica.
In honor of him, family and friends lit candles at the place where he was shot six years ago with six shots fired on his back, in front of his party's objects in North Mitrovica.

He was the bearer of the “Liri, Democracy, Justice Oliver Ivanoviq” list in Kosovo's local elections, which were held in November 2017, several months before his assassination.
During the pre-election campaign for those local elections, due to the intimidation of Serbs in northern Kosovo, four candidates from his list withdrew, meanwhile Ivanovic himself were burned in northern Mitrovica.
