Kurti has declared that BEC regulations and decisions are fully in accordance with the Constitution and laws of Kosovo.
He made these statements Wednesday after visiting Zahir Pajazit in Podujevo, where journalists were asked about international demands for delaying the execution of the CEC regulation, under which from February 1st to Kosovo all payments must be made in euros and that this issue is non-negotiable.
The BEC's decisions are independent and the CEC is an independent institution. The regulations they approve are entirely in line with Kosovo's laws and Constitution. I believe we should leave the CEC and Governor Ahmet Ismaili to do his job, just as he has earned confidence in the Parliament of our Republic”.
He is doing very good work and has clearly explained exactly that in Kosovo the only currency exchange and retail is the euro. We do not want to punish anyone, but only to bring legitimacy, constitutionality and regulation even to the north of Kosovo and elsewhere where there are Serbs in Kosovo”, the head of the Kosovo executive has indicated.
And according to him, even if they don't have it, the opening of a account will be free of charge.
So, in four municipalities north of Kosovo there are four banks and there are 15 non-bank financial institutions where payment remittances can be sent and where all of them can be taken in euros. The euro is the currency that comes to us from the European Union”.
“We are not telling anyone about taking the money of Albania or a new Dardan currency of Kosovo, but the euro -- the euro as the only means of paying and trading clearly defined in the Republic of Kosovo -- is not a negotiated issue”, Kurti stressed.
