Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu has said there is no date when the Civil Code will proceed to the assembly until she added it depends on whether to get votes.
She, at a media conference, said that the opposition is responsible for voting this law.
Civil code “is very important for the Government of the Republic of Kosovo. It does not matter that we are not for that document, because we consider human rights in the Republic of Kosovo very important, and the Civil Code advances those rights. We've only dealt with one topic, 1148, but we've also fallen into many other rights that citizens can enjoy if the Civil Code goes into effect, because Kosovo doesn't have a Civil Code, and the laws in force are outdated and are not consistent with the circumstances. I am not convinced that we can proceed to the Kosovo Assembly if we are not convinced it can pass, we cannot afford the situation if the Parliament again refuses to vote on such a document. ”
“We are in maximum effort to pass, in communication with the MPs of our parliamentary group I cannot say for sure today that we do or do not, yet I am optimistic that the moment we proceed will pass. There is also responsibility here, because they are saying they are representing the citizens of Kosovo, if so, then they have to vote laws that serve citizens”, Haxhi said.
We have the Civil Code in our legislative agenda, but we cannot say with certainty when expected because it depends on whether we have the votes in the Assembly. Otherwise the Civil Code is extremely important to the Government and we will not back down from the draft that we've processed before”, it concluded.
