Germany is expected on Friday to pass the law cutting the way to obtain citizenship and making it easier to maintain two citizenships, the move designed to ease the lack of labour force by making the country more attractive to immigrant workers.
After two years of work, many disputes and delays, the new law is likely to pass by the vote Friday in Bundestag.
The law says that those who have been residents in Germany for five years will have the right to German passports. They will also be able to maintain their citizenship, Reuters reported.
But in cases where citizens show high achievements in their work and speak German C1, they will have the right to apply for citizenship in three years.
