In his view, all activities against these principles will lead to serious consequences.
“The EU constantly urges all political parties to refrain from rhetoric and provocative activities, especially those in RS that question sovereignty, territorial integrity and state unity,” said Stano.
He recalled that, in terms of the legality of the “RS Dit”, the Constitutional Court twice, in 2015 and 2019. decided that RS-day laws are not in line with the BiH constitution.
“I reiterate that the EU requires all sides to respect sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order, including Constitutional Court decisions and, as I said, all actions against these principles have grave consequences”, Stano said.
He stressed that regional co-operation and good neighbourly relations are very important principles for the EU when it comes to all countries wanting to join the EU.
Speaking about what the consequences may be, he said it could be “whatever member states agree to and whether there is the possibility of establishing political, economic and restrictive measures.
For example, there is already a framework for sanctions for BiH. When member states decide that it is enough, and if there is enough political will and evidence to take concrete steps, they will do so, and all decisions in that area should be unanimously taken”, Stano said.
