European Union Ambassador to Kosovo Thomas Szunyog has written that Kosovo can do more to speed up its path towards EU membership.
Szunyog in one Write Published today has written that Kosovo institutions must implement reforms “that improve the lives of all citizens in Kosovo” and that the country “should achieve more”, as “has the potential”.
The government is in a good position to make strategic decisions and to accelerate reforms -- it is the last year for achievement before the elections”, it has written.
Citing the normalisation of relations with Serbia, the EU ambassador wrote that the European road runs through dialogue and cited the importance of establishing association without delay, Express newspaper reports.
The key to emphasis here is that Kosovo's and Serbia's European path passes through EU facilitated dialogue and the normalisation of relations between them. EU member states expect Kosovo and Serbia to implement the Agreement on the road to normalisation and the annex of its implementation, without delays or preconditions. This includes the establishment of the Serbian-run Majority Community Association”, Szunyog wrote.
He wrote that “Kosovo has the chance to get closer to the EU sooner than” might be thought.
