Today the World Economic Forum, to be held in Davos, Switzerland, begins and will last until January 19th.
At the Davoso Economic Forum, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, will participate.
Otherwise, the World Economic Forum's annual meeting this year has the theme of rebuilding trust” and is held by January 15th, 2024.
The 54th annual World Economic Forum summit will provide a crucial space to focus on fundamental principles that promote trust, including transparency, sustainability and accountability.
This annual meeting will welcome over 100 governments, all major international organisations, 1,000 forum partners, as well as civil society leaders, experts, youth representatives, social entrepreneurs and the media.
The European Union's mediator for Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, is expected to meet Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq.
European Union spokesman Peter Sano, confirming these meetings, clarified that, however, there is not expected to be a trilateral meeting.
However, everyone's participation in this forum by analysts in Pristina is seen as a good opportunity to be exploited by the EU mediator for the return of the parties to the negotiating table.
The European Union does not belong to the parties unless it has prepared in advance what will be discussed. There's no open subject right now. So what really happens in Davos is that the parties will present their positions. Serbia will complain that Kosovo does not respect the agreement dealing with association, meanwhile on the other side Kosovo will show how Serbia has only recently taken aggression against Kosovo”, analyst Dorajet Imer has declared for RTK.
As for reaching any eventual agreement between the parties, Imer is not optimistic that he will be reached this year.
According to him, this can only change if you insist on the United States of America.
If the U.S. is interested in four years ago, then with Green, where the parties were ahead of a moment “receive it or permission”, so if the U.S. wants a deal to happen. But with this dynamic, with these parties involved at the moment, I don't believe that even this year that we are going to produce any other”, the analyst added.
The latest meeting, Kurti-Vuchic, under the dialogue, was held in September last year, which ended without results.
