Joe Biden has said that a road to an independent Palestinian state is possible, after he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
There were a series of two-state solutions, among them a non-militarised government like some UN members, the American president suggested.
Asked whether a two-state solution was impossible until Netanyah was still in office, Biden said “jo, is not”, reports Skynews.
Beden had been trying to call “for a long time”, White House spokesman John Kirby said, denying that this came in response to Israeli leader's comments, in which he rejected Palestinian citizenship that did not guarantee Israel's security.
The president also discussed a more stable peace and security for fully integrated Israel within the region and a solution of two states”, he confirmed.
By contrast, Netanyahu has refused any possibility of establishing an independent state of Palestine.
