Ambassador of the United States ( The US) in Serbia, Christopher Hill, has said he is a major supporter of the Open Balkans.

According to him, the issue of the Open Balkans is not just a theory, but has to do with resolving citizens' problems.

“All those who have not heard, I am a huge supporter of the Open Balkans and of the concept of regional co-operation. Here in Preshues, the issue of the Open Balkans is not just a theory, so it has to do with solving the problems of citizens”, he said.

At a media conference with Presevo Mayor Shqirim Arifi, Hill has also talked about the September 24th attack on Zvecan Banjska, where it stressed that persons involved in this attack must be accountable.

I think there's a legal process, but we think there should be accountability. I can assure you that for all the events around Banjsca, the US has had a very clear attitude”, Hill has declared.

As for the Association of Serb majority municipalities, Hill has said it should be based on a European model.

On the other hand, he has said that both sides are fortunate to have an mediator as EU special envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue Miroslav Lajcak.

I think we're lucky to have someone like Lajcak dealing with this process and I think we should all give him the support. If I thought there was a better solution than association, then I would propose it, but I don't think there's a better solution”, he's going on.
