The matter of supplying students with textbooks this year has sparked numerous reactions, following the AugustI decision that the tools for purchasing your texts are carried on your parents' accounts.
In spite of the noise created about the situation, Education Minister Arberie Nagavci has clarified why August made that decision.
She has said the decision has been made so that the state budget is not misused.
Instead of more than 10m euros being expected to cost textbooks, it is transferred to the accounts of 5-6 publishing houses to be carried to accounts of more than 200 thousand parents. We have made the decision in order to ensure that the state budget is managed in the best possible way”, Nagavci said at “Face”.
The minister added that students from the 1st to 5th grade would be separated from 80 euros (50 for textbooks and 30 for textbooks), while the amount of 30 euros would be received by classrooms 6 to 9.
Nagavci added that during those two years in the direction of AugustI, there have been numerous challenges, opportunities for abuse and abuse.
We've addressed some subjects in the prosecution, we've had cases where a text costs 17 euros and more. We have had cases when the same text of the same class, an example of second grade math where a text has followed 7.29 euros, 8.10 euros, 9.05 euros and 14.00 euros. There have been times when one text in one year sold at the price of 3 euros, and next year 14 euros”, the minister said.
Minister Nagavci next indicated that he will see that the execution of money in his parents' accounts takes place before September 1st.
So far we have more than 80 thousand applications, we've received lists with all the applications from the ASHI and I believe that during the day we will follow them all to the Ministry of Finance so that we can make sure that the execution of the tools takes place before September 1,”, she said.
AugustI's first was an appeal for parents not to rush into buying textbooks without accepting their list from teachers or schools.
“Each of the parents should receive a list of textbooks that should be used by schools and teachers. We've sent to the municipal education directors a circuit that we've asked for the list of approved texts to be made public in the school's visible places, and teachers to share information with parents”, Nagavci said.
She added that they have accepted information that in most schools the school management has asked each teacher to list books and other textbooks that children should be equipped to follow up on.
Whether 80 euros will be enough for the purchase of textbooks for classroom students 1-5, the minister said yes and that the price is set on the basis of the price that the texts had last year and the price they negotiated with publishing houses this year.
“Based on last year's pricing notes, and on the basis of negotiations that were made this year for text supply we have assigned the sum, and on the meetings that ministry officials have had with publishing houses they have asked you not to raise prices at this time and there has been a commitment on their part that we have enough texts and that prices will not increase. But we believe that the money they receive to be supplied with textbooks” will suffice, Nagavci said.
The minister added that any price increase any abuse will address the Competition Authority. Otherwise she has also spoken of criticism from the opposition and the SBASK. /Telegraphy/
