I was ashamed because Italy that I want to represent is not a nation that is talking about these things, which does not respect the work of others, who think it's fun to cheat others.”, Mellon says.
As it had been announced by Rama in an interview, and Melon shows that he has asked the ambassador to pay the bill of the 4 Italians.
“While I was in Albania, Prime Minister Rama told me the story of the 4 Italians who fled to a local restaurant without paying the bill. I was ashamed because Italy, which I want to represent, is not a foreign - speaking nation that does not respect the work of others who think it is fun to deceive others. So I decided to ask the ambassador to go pay the bill, which I paid myself. Nothing big, I didn't actually report it. However, this too has created controversy in Italy, from an opposition that apparently prefers another image of Italy. I'm sorry because I was hoping that at least for something so insignificant we all would agree..”, writes Mellon on its former social X website as Twitter.
