In the first six months of this year, 35 fatal accidents have resulted in the loss of 40 lives. According to Kosovo Police statistics sent Radio Kosovo, there are reportedly slight reductions in accidents, but there is an increase in car flow, due to the arrival of fellow countrymen.

Kosovo's arrival of exiles creates a major flow of cars, and as a result, Kosovo Police require drivers and pedestrians to respect road traffic signs.

According to the Kosovo Police, from accidents in Kosovo only in the first part of this year, 40 people have lost their lives.

Communications expert Nol Deday tells Radio Kosovo that the main factor for traffic accidents is man himself.

“The human factor is the main factor for traffic accidents, and especially in these holiday days, then it's the vehicle factor and roads, which have not been made investments in infrastructure”, Dedaj said.

With the arrival of the diaspora, especially in July, August, December until mid-January, roads in Kosovo are added to about 50,000 vehicles, Dedaj says. And the likelihood of growth in accidents increases greatly. According to him, raising the maximum level of police presence in traffic is most necessary.

The “Operation should have a specific programme, until, for example, for limited speed, they should distribute various tracts and deal with educational method”, he added.

In response to E-mail, Kosovo police appeal to all traffic participants to be more careful, to respect road traffic rules and signs, as well as to adapt to road and atmosphere conditions, to have greater safety in traffic.

It would stress that in the last 24 hours alone, Kosovo Police for violations of traffic regulations have distributed 1889 tickets with fines. /rtk
