Oda says solving tensions and promoting a peaceful and stable environment are essential for creating a favourable business environment that can attract investment and support sustainable economic growth in Kosovo.
“Investors seek stable and secure environments for their businesses, while continuing tensions can undermine confidence in Kosovo's economic prospects. Tensions and confrontations create an atmosphere of uncertainty and unpredictable, which prevents potential investors. Therefore, the American Economic Oda in Kosovo expresses its concerns about recent developments and the lack of the will of the Government of Kosovo to coordinate its efforts with international partners, including the US and the EU”.
The American Oda says it wants to reiterate that the United States has been a staunch supporter of Kosovo's independence and has played a key role in creating it as a sovereign state.
“Through diplomatic efforts, the US has repeatedly pledged recognition of Kosovo by the international community, promoting its integration into global institutions and boosting its economic and political development”.
Likewise, the US Oda has been a vital partner in advancing Kosovo's aspirations for European integration, avoting for visa liberalisation and supporting the country's progress towards EU membership.
“The US is the world's number one market for Kosovo products, while at the same time, many American companies actively contribute to the country's economic development in sectors such as construction and real estate, energy, health and information technology. The United States government continues to provide direct financial support to Kosovo through its International Development Agency (USAID) and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC)”.
“In a similar way, the European Union plays a crucial role in supporting Kosovo's political and economic development, offering financial assistance, technical expertise and guidelines for reforms in various sectors. Access to EU funds and programmes facilitates infrastructure development, job creation and improving public services”.
Therefore, the American Economic Oda says that considering the impact the current situation has on socioeconomic developments in general and in the private sector and the efforts to attract investments in particular, the American Economic Oda in Kosovo requires the Government of Kosovo immediately to consider calls from the US and the EU for extending the situation to the north of the country.
