Turkey has tested the Thai ballistic missile produced in the country by Rize on the Black Sea coast for the second time, writes the Daily Sabah.
Although the missile has been declared short-range, during last year's test it flew 351 km in 456 seconds.
“We have successfully conducted a new analysis of the Taifun” missile, said defence industry concert chief Ismail Demir. Due to its radiation, the missile was launched at 6:44 a.m. by a location near Rize-Artvin Airport.
During the first test last October, the missile crossed the 500km limit for short-range ballistic missiles. President Recep Tayip Erdogan has said the fall could be even bigger, up to 1,000km. The rocket is launched with a cell phone.
Turkey considers the development of its ballistic missiles important because it gives it the advantage. Only a small number of countries, such as the US and Russia, are capable of producing anti-missile systems.
Turkey has developed a series of new weapons in recent years, from armoured vehicles and buses to drones. The small boat rocket Chuckyr was tested on May 12th, when you were fired by an Akinci drone from a height of 7,000 feet [700 m].
