Serbia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic, said KFOR's task is “, unable to defeat Pristina's unilateral acts”, and “to prevent workers from entering [communal] building”.
They're now guarding the mayors on the pretext of preserving peace. They seem to be being guarded by the owners of the facilities, Serbs, of those working there, who are employed there. They cannot be mayors in Serbian municipalities, where Serbs have not chosen”, Dacic told Serbia's Radio-Television.
The Serbian community boycotted the April 23rd elections, out of which the new Albanian mayors of the Serb majority municipalities came out: Northern Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposaviq.
Dacic added that Serbia's armed forces are in a state of readiness.
Serbian authorities have decided that their armed forces will remain at the highest level of readiness until an upcoming announcement, due to the situation in northern Kosovo.
