Twelve European lawmakers working for EU legislation regarding technology have called on American President Joe Biden and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyeen to call a meeting, stressing that artificial intelligence should be more responsible.
This statement comes weeks after Twitter's owner, Elon Musk, and over 1,000 technology personalities demanded a six-month pause in developing more powerful systems than the OpenAI system created and supported by Microsoft, ChatGPT, which imitates people and creates text and images based on demand.
In the open letter, published in March, it was warned that artificial intelligence could spread dezinforms to an unprecedented degree and that cars could pass into number and replace” people if not checked.
However, European lawmakers said they disagree fully with this open letter of technology industry representatives.
“However, we agree with the main message of paper: with rapid evolution of powerful artificial intelligence. We see that it needs political action”, they add.
The letter urged democratic states and <x0 undemocratic>” to reflect on possible systems of governance and exercise restraint in their desire for powerful artificial intelligence.
Late spokesman der Leyen has not reacted immediately to this comment.
Last week, China's cyberspace regulator presented measures to manage artificial intelligence services, saying he wants companies to submit their assessments to authorities before launching their offers to the public.
The US president's administration, Joe Biden, has also sought public opinion on possible measures to artificial intelligence systems as questions about the impact artificial intelligence can have on national security and US education have increased.
Almost two years ago, the European Commission had proposed several rules for artificial intelligence that artificial intelligence technology would have to be classified at the risk level. /Rel
