Granit Jaka will remain the captain of Switzerland, and for that she has the full support of the helvetic country, Swiss coach Murat Yakin has said.
Switzerland opens the qualifying campaign against Belarus on March 25th in Novi Sad, Serbia, because U. EFA banned Russia's neighbouring state from playing the games as domestic in its country because of the war in Ukraine.
Coach Yakin was asked by Swiss journalists if midfielder from Kosovo would remain captain for the match in Serbia.
We support Graniti 100%. He's my captain. He is an example and draws players to himself inside and outside the field. These are my expectations for a captain. I'm very happy to have him on team”, Yakin told Jaka.
Switzerland is in a group with Kosovo, but will not face therdians in March, Nacional reports.
On March 28th, the favourite of the I qualifying Group awaits Israel, Kosovo's direct rival for second place.
Besides Jaka, Yakin has also invited Gerdan Shaqiri and Andy Zeqiri to these two qualifying matches.
“The expectations on FCB (Basel) are huge. It's fun to see them. They score many goals and are in good shape. Now we hope they can also carry their qualities on the national team”, he added.
Kosovo and Switzerland do not face until the last two laps of the group stage -- September and November.
The Zeqiri, since choosing the Italians by violating the pledge he had made to Kosovo, has played only in four official matches in national helvetics.
He's now playing for Basel in Swiss Superleague in borrowing from the Brighton Premierleague Club.
The 23-year-old made 14 goals in 34 performances in all Swiss club competitions.
