On March 2nd, no electricity from Albania, production from country thermal power plants available

On March 2nd, Kosovo is not receiving electricity from Albania's Energy Corporation (KESH). It has not been officially clarified the reason why Kosovo is not continuing to import electricity from Albania either as a return of electricity debt deposited in KESH, during summer months, or as a loan (for electricity change based on [...]

These days, however, Kosovo's consumption is being supplied mainly by local electricity production, respectively, by electricity producing KEK thermal power plants that are operational (B1 and B2 of Kosovo B and A3 and A4 of Kosova A) and that are continuing to function well and in these cold days are forcing with technical readiness of turbines and cables, despite their great oldness and amortisation from permanent work with decey in a row.

If the current production in these four power generation units from the country's functional thermal power plants is estimated, it turns out that B1, B2 and A3 and A4 are jointly producing about 780 megavat-hour power.

Skender Bucolli, spokesperson for the Kosovo Energy Corporation, has told the Economic Bulletin today that there are currently four state-of-the-art thermal power plants (B1 and B2 of Kosovo B and A 3 and A4 of Kosovo A), which produce about 760-780 megavats of electricity together. As it is known, the B1 and B2 blocs of Kosovo B share the capacity of the network around 520 megawatts, or each block, currently produce about 260 megawatts per hour. While the A 3 and A4 bloc of thermal power plants Kosova A, the capacity in the network is about 130 megawatts per hour, which means they jointly produce 260 megawatts. If the current production in these four power generation units from the country's functional thermal power plants is estimated, it turns out that B1, B2 and A3 and A4 are jointly producing about 780 megavat-hour power. This amount of electricity produced by TCs should be added plus a symbolic amount, about 50-60 megavat-hour, sometimes more, of renewable energy produced in the country (from Kosovo's small hydropower plants and from wind-based energy parks in Shalla Bajgora and in Kitke of Anamorawa).

Bucolli said today that during 24 hours from KEK thermal power plants were produced around 17 thousand megawatts per hour of electricity, and all this amount was made available to the distributor, except for a smaller amount, or about 80 to 90 megavats, dedicated to Thermoco as thermal heating power. There is no word from KED on the need to import these days, yet with relatively low temperatures at night.

However, Albania's lack of electricity, which for months was a major contribution to the stability of the country's economic system, will be felt these cold days, when electricity consumption in Kosovo increases significantly, especially during peak hours. And Kosovars do not have many alternatives in the absence of their own electricity and the need for electricity.

Thus, the savings of electricity and the reduction of expenses are essential and the alternatives that await us in terms of the lack of electricity. Kosovo has no choice in the coming days, except conditional reductions, the necessary savings of each consumer.
