25 years from Preskas massacre, no results from Kosovo Special Prosecutor's Investigations

In March of this year, 25 years were spent in the Praeca massacre, where 55 members of the commander's family, Adem Yasar, were killed and slaughtered.

Despite 25 years since the Prekas massacre, there is still no result from the Special Prosecutor's Investigations of the Republic of Kosovo (PSRK), which had begun more than three years ago, reports “Justice Voct for”.

It was prosecutor Drita Hajdari, who as P prosecutor The SRK has declared it is launching investigations into the Prekas massacre.

“I have verified whether the case was opened by EULEX or UNMIK or by The Hague Tribunal, and after realizing that there is no open case, I have decided to open the investigation in order to clarify this case and criminal responsibility for war crimes in concrete case” was the State Prosecutor Hajdari's statement for the media.

According to her, the investigation had begun in 2019 - 21 years after the events of Prekasus. The same, for media it had claimed they had opened the preliminary investigation and that they were already collecting evidence.

But even when more than three years have passed since Prosecutor Hajdari had declared that preliminary investigations were under way in the case, the prosecutor has not yet announced whether any charges were filed in the case.

Also, from the information that is owned by “Justice Trust”, this case has already been passed on to special prosecutor Valdet Gashi. The latter, contacted by “Justice Vow”, confirmed that this case was divided to him, but refused to answer over the phone, demanding that questions be sent in writing.

The verdict on Justice” has sent written questions to the Gashi prosecutor, but no written answers have been accepted until the publication of this article.

Otherwise, during 2016, P The SRK, had established a Special Department for handling war crimes cases by local prosecutors.

Before the establishment of this department, cases were previously investigated by UNMIK and EULEX prosecutors, but both of these missions have succeeded in “insufficiently” in tackling war crimes in Kosovo.

We remember that there are a considerable number of past crimes committed against Kosovo citizens during the recent war in Kosovo, for which crimes, justice has yet to answer, including the Jashar family massacre.

So the Yasar family had undergone three attacks during the 1990s-1998s by Serb paramilitary forces. The first attack on the Jashar family was carried out on December 30, 1997.

While the second attack was carried out by Serb paramilitary forces in January 1998. On January 22nd, Serbian forces attacked the Yasar family, but even this battle, the Jashar family had resisted. However, Iliriana, the daughter of Rift Jashar and Selvetta, daughter of Hamza Yasar, had been injured in these fighting.

The third attack, which took place on March 5, 6, and 7, 1998, on the Jashar family, claimed 55 lives in the village of Prekaz, 22 of whom were close family members of Adam Yashhar.
