Lutfi Haziri for the February 27th meeting between Kurt and Vuciq: I don't expect acceptance of Association

LDK Deputy Chairman Lutfi Haziri has spoken of the February 27th meeting in Brussels, to be held between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq. He says the meeting will focus on issues related to the achieved agreements and the basic document for an agreement after the European proposal, while he says the parties remain to push ahead with a progress on reaching an agreement, while stressing that association is the threshold Kosovo cannot pass without causing progress.

The February 27th meeting currently warned and prepared by the international mediator in its focus has issues related to reached agreements and the basic document for an agreement following the European proposal eventually. The parties' positions have been given in their comments and are included in a document, which from now on remains the question of the parties pushing forward a progress on reaching an agreement, but drafting the charter of association of municipalities is the threshold Kosovo cannot pass without causing progress, which means that the co-operative group will be established and the draft of the statute”, Haziri told Blic newspaper.

According to him, Prime Minister Kurti is still taking a stand for domestic political needs, but that negotiations do not accept provisions and should focus on reaching an agreed agreement by the parties.

“As far as the basic agreement is concerned, there is a document the prime minister has partially accepted on July 2nd, but that negotiations do not accept the obligations of the parties, but should focus on reaching an agreement that has already been accepted by the parties and which is expected to be discussed on February 27th. Will it be discussed by points 7 or from the first point, the document stands as a whole, our prime minister is still taking a stand for domestic political needs, rather than reflect the reality of negotiations and expectations that the international community and partners have”, he estimates.

As for the association, Haziri stresses that he sees no signs of his accession and that he is still at zero point by the Government, with the 6 conditions of Prime Minister Kurti, so he does not expect his admission or signature.

“We are not seeing signs of acceptance of drafting the statute, even furthermore is the zero point position of the Government of Kosovo because on February 2nd the prime minister has said there will be six conditions under which the Association can pass, and the negotiation process must be revised. Virtually, the prime minister has called for opening negotiations on changing the name and defining the character of organisation. So I do not expect admission or signing of a document that would go towards achieving a progress, end, this has nothing to do with the February 27th meeting, because progress on this issue should be caused by the Government of Kosovo, not by the” talks, Lutfi Haziri claims.
