Six Ukrainians have been killed by the crackdown on a Russian missile in the southern Ukrainian town of Kherson on Tuesday.
Ukraine's military and city authorities have said 12 others were injured in the attack, which a Reuters correspondent on the scene said left a pool of blood on the sidewalk near a damaged bus station.
The blast also damaged a chain of shops behind the bus station, knocked down electricity cables and broke glass on the opposite side of the road.
Photos posted online by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had previously shown corpses lying on the street, broadcast “Reuters“.
This day's “is very crowded here, so there are probably a lot of victims,” told Reuters Victoria, a woman waiting for a bus who refused to give her last name.
Local authorities said Kherson was attacked by numerous missiles as the Russian president delivered a speech describing the West as aggressor in Ukraine and saying his country is not waging war against the Ukrainian people.
Meanwhile, there is still no comment from Russia regarding the attacks on Herson, a city in which, according to the Ukrainian Army, about 20 rockets have been launched.
Moscow has denied targeting civilians at its <x0 military special operation”, but cities across Ukraine have been destroyed by rocket attacks and fears and thousands of civilians have been killed.
