At least eight people have lost their lives because of fire involving a temporary building of refuge for construction workers in Sevastopol on the Crimean Peninsula.
According to reports, the fire, which broke out at night in the building on the outskirts of Sevastopol, was caused by a short circuit in an electric device. Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula, known as Ukrainian territory by most countries, from Ukraine in 2014.
Mikhail Raznozaev, Russia's appointed governor, said the fire broke out in a two-story construction workers' house on the Tavrida highway, a road connecting Sevastopoli and Simferopol on the Crime Peninsula.
By the time the fire broke out, there were 185 people in the building. According to recent information, the fire was the malfunction of some electrical devices.
The fire went off this morning, Raznozaev said in a post on the telegram.
Two workers were sent to the hospital, according to information.
