Zvecan Mayor Ilir Peci says that in case of holding new elections, he is aware of his loss.

He during an interview for Kosova Prees, said everything remains to be seen in the future and depending on political developments, will decide on further steps, as regards citizens' demand for initiative of petition about dismissal.

Peci, who is continuing to carry out the post of deputy from an alternative office in the village of Kelmendi, said that in the event of new elections, he will lose, though he is not sure whether he will run again, because, as he said, it depends on the party.

I stress, in time we will decide what is in the best of citizens and the good of the state we will act... All that remains to be seen in the future, to see how the political situation is going on, neither I nor my three colleagues in the north do not think they are for any harm in their country. I believe that the four of us will be of one word and decision, and whatever is in the best of the country we will certainly do, whether we resign or not, we will decide together for the good of the country... Whether the Serbs have already decided to participate in the elections, we know we cannot win where the majority are Serbs, but whether I will run or not, it is not up to me, it is up to the party, voters, the council, to see”, he said.

The first of the Zvecan municipality also speaks of reports with the government, which he accused of not having enough interest in supporting him from the start in his work.

According to him, the municipality is facing numerous difficulties, noting space shortages as the main challenge.

The fact that our budget has been delayed about three and a half months and several other issues implies that the government has not been interested in supporting us from the start, but that currently the municipality-government reports are more stable... The challenge is we have enough, first of all, the space of the object that creates big problems... challenges we have, but we've achieved something to work on, we're ending things that are important to citizens... For Serbian citizens, we have enlightenment in Banjska, which was the request of the village's own inhabitants, today we are dealing with a Serb who suffers from a disease and we are in procedure to find an opportunity from the mayor's office to help her with a lot of tools for help. Also, the Assembly has decided that for every baby born in 2023 families to be assisted by 200 euros, here we have requests from Serbian and Albanian citizens, as far as villages here, it has also been necessary to clear the road, the parents' demand has also been the transportation for students to schools, which is at the end of over”, he said.

He pointed out that for these seven months, he has achieved 80 percent of the demands of citizens of this municipality indiscriminately, citing public enlightenment in Banjska, financial assistance for people with serious illnesses, and babies born this year, cleaning up different roads, and so on.

However, he added, even though the 3m-euro municipal budget has been sufficient, the municipality has failed to meet all citizens' demands so far, due to short time and various difficulties.

It's good things that have been done for citizens, but we haven't achieved all the citizens' demands because it's been too short and hard for us... In 2023 the budget was enough because it wasn't exploited by past government... The citizens' demands, without sharing them in Albanians and Serbs, have covered about 80 percent. It was about 3m euros for 2023, Peci said.

By contrast, Zvecan Mayor Ilir Peci, along with Zubin Potok, Izmir Zeqiri, who come from the ranks of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, perform their duties from alternative objects, while northern Mitrovica chairman Erden Attic and Lulzim Hetemi, who leads with Leposaviqi, both from Vetevendosje, exercise office from municipal objects. /Kp/
