This handshake between Greek Prime Minister Kiriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan this Thursday in Athens marked the good wind that seems to be finally blowing in relations between the two countries.
The head of the Turkish state appeared smiling after 6 years in the Greek capital, where he originally expects from the president and later from the country's prime minister. Mitsotakis said after the 90-minute meeting that the visit was a new chapter in relations between the two countries.
“Greece and Turkey must live in peace, find solutions for their problems, and those that cannot be solved should not lead to the crisis. I feel a historic debt to approach both countries”, he said.
Erdogan also appeared optimistic in his comments, talking about the need to develop a constructive “log.
“I'll say it openly. There's no problem so big between us that it can't be solved if we walk in trust and focus on the big picture. The countries must maintain open communication channels”, Erdogan said.
Summit extensions Mitsotakis-Erdogan
