The Specialised Prosecutor's Office (ZPS) through a communique for the media has provided some details of the restrictions it has imposed on the three indictees at the Specialised Chambers Centre's Pre-prisonment Centre, Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi.
According to the announcement, the decision on limiting the contacts has been made after Thaci, Veselin and Selimi had attempted to prevent witness testimony.
“The SPS took this step in response to efforts to intervene in witnesses and prevent their testimony, and further threats to the integrity of the process in the Thaci court case and others. The SPS investigations into obstruction of justice show that the three accused used privileged visits to them to illegally distribute confidential information and, in Thaci's case, to educate visitors repeatedly to seek to manipulate witness evidence”, it is said in communiqués.
The report further states that the “Office of the Specialised Prosecutor takes extremely seriously preventing justice and will continue to prosecute and prosecute anyone and all those involved in any case, including those who fear or intervene in witnesses, or offer financial or any other form for such criminal acts”.
