The Scottish panoromic village looks like the perfect winter resort with the frozen river and white peaks in the distance, but residents complain that they often get off the radio with just a small food store and frozen water pipes in the house.
The British daily The Sun writes that the village may seem insignificant, but in fact it is a secret haven to be known as Rita Ora or members of the royal family.
The 600 permanent residents of Braemar in the mountainous regions of Scotland already face the challenges of freezing weather as temperatures drop to -20Cs.
But with energy costs increasing, some of the area's families say they remain with the difficult choice between heating up or buying food.
84-year-old John Peoples says there are only expensive electric heaters in the house between the Cairngorms national park.
Now it only warms one room. It is not convenient to warm the whole house because energy prices have become ridiculous”, he says.
Even lonely grandfather John says he faces Christmas alone, which makes his finances difficult.
John says the municipality seeks to remove its coal chimney as part of ecological movement, but the army veteran has so far refused to mention difficult conditions and isolation.
He adds: “We've been completely isolated weeks, but I don't complain, we want to just stay here, little trouble doesn't hurt”.
It's the first time I'm in this time, and in fact, some young people invited us to a Christmas dinner in the village but I refused, because I only like”.
In the Panoramic village of Braemar there are already no radio signals and no supermarket, except for a food stand.
Even at the end of 2015, the village was isolated from snow, and the community was forced to join in caring for the most needy.
The community is near the British royal residence Balmoral and attracts tourists and celebrities such as Rita Ora, who have stayed at The Five Arms alone.
In that case Rita Ora wrote in the Instagram: “I passed a wonderful time in Scotland ... and I will be back very soon. ”
But in mid-winter the country turns into a ghost town as cold weather drives visitors away, while rising energy costs force residents to pay more than 10 pounds a day for heating.
Most businesses in Braemar are small family enterprises, mainly of hospitality and restaurants. This makes locals do two or three jobs at once to make a living. / TheSun/kpress/
