The new leadership of the Democratic League of Kosovo, at its first meeting after the internal elections, discussed the working plan, the party's organisational plan, as well as the country's main political issues, the LDK media office has announced.
In terms of the dialogue process, the Headship estimates that the draft municipality Association of the Serb Majorities, handed over to the Government of Kosovo, clearly constitutes an autonomous political and territorial overhaul of Kosovo Serbs and as such turns into an urgent issue for constitutional treatment.
“This document, stemming from the Brussels and Ohrid Anexi Agreement, relies on UN Resolution 1244, creates new powers on Kosovo territory and replaces the Constitutional Court with an arbitration system”, says the report
The Democratic League of Kosovo has stressed that it cannot support any product that emerges outside the constitutional framework of the Republic of Kosovo, outside the unitary system of our state, as well as outside its territorial regulation.
“The LDK estimates that the role of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo is necessary and crucial and expects this court to act in compliance with the constitutional norm, whenever it handles this” document.
“The LDK considers this document to be the result of the wrong policies of the country's prime minister, government and other leading institutions, as well as of non-co-ordination with our allies in the most critical stages of the country”.
“The LDK strongly believes that the timely co-ordination of actions with our allies, in particular with the US, is vital to our country's functioning and future. The LDK continues to remain faithful to the initial idea that dialogue with Serbia should be made for mutual recognition, that the association of municipalities is our duty and that this international obligation must be realised in full compliance with the constitutional order of Kosovo”, the communiqué concludes.
