The Slovak emissary for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, at the EU-Western Balkans forum currently under way in Brussels, has talked about the normalisation process between Kosovo and Serbia. Lajcak has said there is progress on many issues and that they are very close to closing the energy issue.

He has also said there is progress between Kosovo and Serbia in steps on how to implement the Normalisation Agreement.

The Slovak emissary has said that the political calendar must be forgotten, citing elections in the European Union. Lajcak has said it is important that all important decisions be made before the start of the election campaign, no delays and no new European Commission being expected to be established after the elections, Express reports.

I am very happy that this positive moment has an impact on the current atmosphere in the dialogue process. We are seeing progress on many issues. We are close to closing the very important energy issue, there is progress for the license plates, there is progress for local elections in the north, for missing persons, and we have made progress in reconciliation for steps on how to implement the normalisation agreement. I'm in a daily contact with the parties. My final point, don't forget the political calendar. The EU elections next year. It is very important that all important decisions be made before we enter an electrolytic campaign. Then we can have implementation at the same time that the new European Commission is established. Don't wait too long and don't wait for the new Commission. But it takes two for tango, the EU is ready, and I hope that the Western Balkans will also be ready”, Lajcak said.
