Former Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga has said that while the world is marking the “16 days campaign against gender-based violence” with various activities, Kosovo is failing.
She wrote in a Facebook post that the murder of Liridona Ademiaj is evidence of the patriarchate's deep roots in the country.
“Bota has been mobilised, marking 16 days against gender base violence with various activities to achieve awareness of the prevention of violence. And in Kosovo, but during this 16-day, we are failing, every year, every year, every year and worse. The murder of Liridona Ademiaj, so brutal and ruthlessly, is clear evidence of the deep roots of the patriarchate in the country, shallow thinking, ruthless towards women in the country”, writes Jahjaga.
