Iftar added to list of U's heritage NESTO's

The United Nations Cultural Agency (UNESCO) put it on Wednesday, iftar, the bar prepared by Muslims during Ramadan's holy month, on the cultural heritage list.

Applications for this socio-cultural tradition have jointly handed over Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

“Iftar (also called eftar or Iftar) is prepared by Muslims to eat after sundown in the month of Ramadan”, he said U n NESTO.

Iftar relates to meetings, “strengthening family ties and promotes charity, solidarity and cultural exchange”, it is said in the statement.

In many Muslim states, it is a tradition for iftar to depart by eating a palm tree accompanied by tea.
