Hill, Serbs: Your fate is in your hands, not Washington, Brussels or Beijing

US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill said today at the “Bota meeting at 2024” in Belgrade that Serbs should realise that their fate is in their hands, not Washington, Brussels and Beijing.

At the opening of the conference, he stressed that the year 2024 will be “complex” and that its outcome will depend on many factors.

Next year also, he stressed, will be “too much, many” important for all those who want to see further enlargement of the European Union and Serbia to another country, adding that the good will is seen in Brussels is evident.

For Serbia, 2024 is an important year. All Serbs must understand that their fate is not in Washington, Brussels, nor even in Beijing, the fate of Serbs is in Serbs”, Hill said.

Citing the Open Balkans, he said it does not matter what the regional co-operation model will be called, but that it exists and is developing.

He said it is possible that dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina will progress in the coming months, and that in that sense he believes that next year will be important for Serbia.
